CATIA Forge Design / Engineering

Stellar Forge Products, Inc. is the only captive forging die shop in the country that supports Catia, we feel we will be able to alleviate a great burden on our customer in terms of better control of in house engineering time, reduce excessive head count by eliminating those that have little or no knowledge of forging, training, etc., and improved lead time on final design to forge production and first piece inspection. Building a working relationship with us will allow you to stay ahead of your competitors and solidify your position as a major supplier in your market.

Design and Engineering Services

I Complete Design Development

Ability to work from blueprint of a finished machined part or forging to create bender/preform geometry, blocker/finisher impressions, and trim component designs. Other services available under this category include enveloping the finished machined part and addition of shrink factor to "cold" forging.

2 - Dimensional / Solide 3 - Dimensional
  • (a) 2D die layout & part print
  • (b) Main Components, full assembly drawings
  • (c) 2D trimmer designs & full assemblies
  • (d) Conversion,3D wire frames to 2D parts
  • (e) Reverse Engineering blueprints or models
  • (a) 3D wire frame of finished forging
  • (b) Solid model conversion to 3D surface and back
  • (c) 3D surface/solide model construction
  • (d) Envelope of finished machine part
  • (e) Parametric inclusion of any engineering changes to an existing solide model
  • (f) Convert an existing customer 2D finished part print to a usable 3D/solid model
  • (g) Space analysis-accurate interferance detection between 3D elements
  • (h) Finite element modeler / meshing; die stress analysis, simulation of forge process, metal flow
II Data Transfer

3D models and blueprints can be sent and received many different ways, whether by hardcopy or electronic format. Our Extranet (FTPsite) is best used for instant receipt or delivery of all electronic files. This is especially efficient for files larger than 5 megabytes in size. More conventional methods include sending data on tape or compact disc via mail or an express courier.

III Reverse Engineering

Production of blueprints or CAD models by means of non-contact scanning/inspection of existing parts or dies where data has been lost or is obsolete. Also, digitizing for the purpose of building useable 3D models.
